Revolutions

There have been many revolution all around the world during the imperialist era.  One example is the revolution in India.  The story start in 1857 with the Sepoy Revolution.  The India was a colony of England mainly controlled by the British East India Trading Company.  The trading company employed Indian troops(sepoys) in large number in their armies.  The Sepoys had not been treated well by the British and their angry boiled over into outright rebellion when the British required Sepoy's to use a new rifle cartridge sealed with animal fat.  It is against the religion of both the Muslim's and Hindu's to bite the animal to use the cartridge.  This was an outrage to the Sepoys and they started attacking their British officer.  This spread all across India but the movement quickly fell apart as the Muslims and the Hindu began infighting.  Another rebellion in the imperialist era was the Boxer Rebellion.  The Boxer's where against the modernization of China and did not like western culture.  They rose up in the country side and began to kill every westerner they could see.  The Empress of China Cixi did nothing to stop the Boxer's because she secretly supported them.  The foreign country decided to defeat the Boxers and put together a international coalition of 20,000 troops.  The countries in the coalition included England, France, the United States, Japan, Germany, Austria, Italy, and Russia.  This coalition quickly defeated the Boxer's.  With the Boxer's defeat China was forced to modernization and change their government.
