Narrative 

• Ethiopia: Italy was the country trying to take them over but Ethiopia was prepared. What the Italians didn't know was that the Ethiopians bought modern guns to fight against the Italians, and won they were the first and only African country to beat a European power.
• China: Countries like Germany, Italy, England and USA wanted China to westernize. But the boxers didn't, they had a rebellion. The boxers would kill anyone who was westernizing. On august 14th 1900 twenty thousand multi-nation troops arrived, to help fight back against the boxers onslaught.    
• Hawaii: the United States found that there was a profit to be made in Hawaii due to crops like pineapples, but once the sugar tax went up we figured that we would take over Hawaii so we wouldn't have to pay the tax. So the United States came in and took over queen lil with the marines but she gave up. Now Hawaii is the 50th state of the United States.

Assassinations

Narrative:
     The killing of someone in power by revolutionaries in not a new concept. The first story actually starts off with a failed attempt on the life of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Gavrilo Princip, soon to be assassin, was sitting in a cafe disappointed with how he and his friends had failed to kill the Archduke. Meanwhile the Archduke who had just almost been killed by a grenade thrown at him, decided to visit the injured in the hospital. On the way there his car broke down right in front of a cafe. The same cafe that Gavrilo Princip was in. Princip walked out and saw right there his target that he had missed earlier, within reach, immobile. He took out his revolver and fired two shots. About a month later the world broke out into the Great War of 1914, one of the reasons was the death of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand.  Now why did this happen in the first place? Princip was born in Bosnia and when the Austro-Hungarian Empire took over his homeland he developed a major hatred for them. They imperialized his home, he wanted to stop them, and in his mind killing Ferdinand would accomplish that motive.
     The second example of an
assassination that was caused by imperialism in when Japan ordered Korea to modernize their country. They refused and as a retaliation the decided to assassinate Queen Min. On October 8, 1895, a bunch of Japanese and Korean group of assassins kidnapped the Queen, raped her, killed her, and burnt her body. The Queen would never cooperate with them so they did this to her in order that other would.
